Electromagnetic Single Face Brake Type EB

Magpower system are manufacturers of Clutches and Brakes which are intended for Start-Stop applications. They come in various types to meet different requirements.

Type EB
Magpower Electromagnetic Single Face Brake Type EB is a β€œNormally Off” Type Brake. It has 2 basic parts. The stator which consists of a coil and friction material, and the Armature plate. The braking torque is produced by means of the electromagnetic force which is developed when the current flows through the brake coil, thus attracting the Armature plate to the stator with friction material, thereby arresting the motion and is released immediately due to a sinusoidal wave spring, when no current is passing through the coil.

These brakes are used for Dry Applications only.

Features

  • These brakes are designed for simple mounting and easily adaptable to any mounting requirement as it is manufactured in varied designs.
  • The sinusoidal wave spring enables a backlash free transmission, enabling very short response time on disengagement.
  • The friction faces are completely separated by the Spring eliminating any drag and permitting use at very high idling speeds.
  • These units are practically maintenance free due to the Stationary Coil and Highly Wear Resistant friction surfaces.

Example of Order

  • Type : EB, Size : 08, 24 VDC, Design: 101, Armature Bore Diameter – 14 mm.
  • For selecting the correct size of the brake, the factors to be considered are
  • Max. reqd. braking torque.
  • Freq. Of operations.
  • Max. thermal load.

The reqd. braking torque can be calculated using the formula

  • M = (9550 pn). s (Nm)
  • M = Reqd. Static torque (Nm)
  • p = Power rating of prime mover in KW
  • n = Rev Min
  • s = Service factor depending on application (1.5 to 4.0)
